How to Write a Jewellery Product Description?

A Comprehensive Guide

Writing a jewellery product description involves capturing the essence of the piece, highlighting its features, and creating an emotional connection with potential buyers.

Think that sounds like a full dance card? Don't forget the most important part, - to include your chosen keywords naturally without over stuffing!

To craft an effective description all of these elements need to be taken into consideration. I find the most effective way is to break it down into a format that each of your product descriptions follow. This ensures your ticking every box and that your descriptions have some continuity. Readers like continuity, Google likes unique text, so try to stick to the format but with fresh new content each time.

To enable your brand tone of voice to come through in each piece of copy you write, try to identify your writing style. Create a bank of words you like and words you don't. Words like 'cherish' 'sentimental' and 'on-fleek' - are these in the yes or no collom for you?

Phrases and sentences are also great to add to this bank. Not only will it help you and your team to stay 'on brand' but it can help inspire you when you sit down to write.

Back when I was a full time jewellery copywriter I poured over countless fashion magazines and blogs to select snippets of descriptions to use in my own writing.

I would avoid comparing yourself to your niche neighbours, create a tone of voice and a structure that you feel fits your brand.

To describe jewellery effectively, focus on the details, mentioning the type of metal, gemstones, and any unique design elements. Use sensory language to describe the look and feel of the piece, making it come alive in the reader's mind.

Highlight the craftsmanship, emphasizing any handmade elements or special techniques used in creating the jewellery. You should create a vision for your piece.

If it were a ball gown you would suggest the way the dress will flow down the red carpet, stealing the show.

For jewellery, think of the type of occasion it may be worn for, holiday? date night? Garden Party?

I would suggest first picking out your keywords, then focus on placing them naturally within your descriptive writing.

How Do You Write a Catchy Product Description?

A catchy product description should be concise and get to the point quickly.

If your brand is sleek, no fuss, your writing should naturally follow suit. The trick to writing catchy product descriptions is to use engaging language that evokes emotions and visual imagery. This will tantalise your reader even if the description is minimal.

The items specifics can be detailed below to avoid lengthy descriptions.

If you are keeping your descriptions short there will be less room for hiding those all important keywords.

Remember, Google likes between 3 and 9% keyword density.

One rule of thumb in the industry is to choose three descriptive words for each piece, this ensures your product descriptions don't read to elaborate.

'This dazzling gold star necklace, with its alluring, luminescence gleams with an eye-catching elegance.'

Overly frilly writing, such as the example provided, can overwhelm and alienate readers. When a product description is laden with excessive adjectives and adverbs, it becomes difficult to read.

The message gets lost in the sea of descriptive words, making it hard for readers to grasp the core information about the product. In essence, less is often more; clear, concise, and purposeful language is far more effective in engaging and informing customers.

How to Design Jewellery for Beginners?

The profitability of different types of jewellery can vary based on market demand, material costs, and brand positioning.

Fine jewellery made from precious metals and gemstones often has higher profit margins due to the perceived value and quality.

However, fashion jewellery, which includes trendy and affordable pieces, can also be highly profitable due to its broad appeal and lower production costs.

Custom and bespoke jewellery can command premium prices due to their uniqueness and personalization.

I'd picture the lifestyle you idolise, would you like to work for weeks on one piece from your home studio or do you enjoy the hustle? would you like to hear the bing, bing, bing of multiple orders being placed every day?

More orders means staff, premises, huge ad spend and frantic christmas's. Both business models have their advantages and disadvantages. Which one floats your boat?
